Hays Knowledgebase Question:

I have an original clutch disc. What pressure plate would you recommend for my car? Long 3 finger is what the engine builder is recommending. What's the differance between long 3 finger type and diaphragm type? He wants me to keep the poundage down below 2400lbs on the pressure plate. What flywheel would you recommend. On the engine dyno horsepower at 340 and torque at 350. Thank you. John Madron

Reply from Rep:

Diaphram Style Pressure Plates have less static Pressure, Usually around 2400 Lbs or Below.. Its just NOT Possible to get high clamp pressure from a Diaphram "cone" style spring. However, The 3 finger type can have 9-12-16 springs installed and each with different spring pressure that you can set up to create what Static pressure you need. Starting at 2400 Lbs and going up to 4500 lbs static clamp pressure..
